In June 2009, the Community Council of Greater Dallas and the Dallas Area Agency on Aging created the Community Transportation Network, now known as My Ride Dallas, to address the mobility needs of people with transportation limitations and to fill transportation gaps in service in Dallas County.

With the help of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, more than 90 private, public, non-profit, and faith-based organizations joined together as a network to improve access to safe, reliable, accessible and affordable transportation. My Ride Dallas provides regular communication on transportation events, service changes, and new transportation options to the Coalition.

Through the Get a Ride guide,, transportation options counseling, Mobility 101 trainings, community presentations and participations in local events, My Ride Dallas assists individuals to meet their transportation challenges.

In 2012, the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center, selected My Ride Dallas for a national grant to support transportation options counseling. My Ride Dallas was one of eight grantees selected from 182 proposals from 39 states.

My Ride Dallas/Dallas Area Agency on Aging was honored with a 2012 Achievement Award presented by The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging for developing successful, cost-effective initiative to support older adults, persons with disabilities and their family caregivers.

The Coalition’s work has been highlighted nationally through presentations at Easter Seals Project ACTION, National Association of Area Agencies on Aging n4a Conference and the American Society on Aging’s Aging in America Conference.
