MY RIDE Dallas has garnered national attention and recognition as a model
since it began in 2009. Its collaborative model has been honored as
follows:
• MY RIDE Dallas/Dallas Area
Agency on Aging was honored with a 2012 Achievement Award presented by The
National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) for developing a
successful, cost-effective initiative to support older adults, persons with
disabilities and their family caregivers. The programs honored serve as models
for other agencies seeking new and effective local approaches to address the
needs of older residents and their families.
• MY RIDE Dallas was selected to present a workshop at the 2012 Aging in America
Conference in March 2012 in Washington, DC. The workshop showcased strategies
to help communities start and strengthen a network that meets the needs of
seniors and people with disabilities through innovative transportation
solutions.
• The National Center on Senior Transportation selected MY
RIDE Dallas for a national grant to support transportation
options counseling in 2012. The grant supports the Center’s mission: to provide
innovative and effective approaches for mobility management to benefit older
adults. The Network was one of eight grantees selected from 182 proposals from
39 states.
• Easter Seals Project ACTION, a national partner in
accessible transportation, selected the Community Transportation Network to
present Dallas area efforts in a national webinar held October 2011. The
Network participated in the Easter Seals Project ACTION Accessible
Transportation Coalitions Initiative in June 2010.•
MY RIDE Dallas was selected to present at multiple
sessions at the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging's 2014 n4a
Conference in Dallas in July, 2014, including a One Call/One Click Session,
a Poster Session, host of a Round Table Discussion, and a Mobility Workshop.
• National Center on Senior Transportation, a national partner in increasing
transportation options for older adults and enhancing their ability to live
more independently within their communities, selected MY RIDE Dallas to present Dallas area efforts in a national webinar
held in March, 2014. The Network received an NCST 2012-2013 grant to build
the MY RIDE Dallas program.
• MY RIDE Dallas was selected to present a workshop at the
2014 Aging in America Conference in March 2014 in San Diego, CA. The
workshop provided information about innovative transportation programs for
seniors and persons with disabilities that have been developed and
implemented in Dallas and Houston.
